DSEA develops projects and initiatives that connect research and education with economic, managerial, social and environmental challenges.

Working with public institutions, professional communities, organisations, schools, students, alumnae and alumni, and civil-society actors, the Department translates academic expertise into research projects, educational experiences, public events, tools and practical solutions.

DSEA’s projects may originate from research findings, societal needs, teaching activities or dialogue with external stakeholders.

Although their formats and audiences differ, they share a common approach: identifying a relevant challenge, combining academic knowledge with different forms of expertise, developing an appropriate initiative and assessing the value generated for the people and communities involved.

Impact is understood as a process that develops over time. It may begin with participation, knowledge dissemination or the creation of a new tool and evolve into stronger skills, changed professional practices, new collaborations or wider economic, social and environmental benefits.

Through its projects and initiatives, DSEA brings research, education and societal engagement together.

Each activity provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge, address a real-world challenge and build relationships capable of generating lasting value for individuals, organisations and communities.

Banche, regolamentazione e vigilanza: verso un quadro europeo semplificato per gli intermediari minori

The Marco Fanno Department of Economics and Management, sponsored by the Federazione Nord Est, Federazione Veneta BCC, and Giotto Cellino Sim S.p.A., is organizing a conference to analyze the prospects for simplifying banking regulation and supervision for smaller financial intermediaries in the European context. Through contributions from academics, supervisory authorities, and industry experts, the principles of regulatory proportionality, international experiences, and recent reform proposals will be explored. The event will conclude with a roundtable discussion on the operational impacts of simplifications on the financial market.

Eco-Innovazione sostenibile: costruiamo il puzzle del futuro!

19th May 2026 – Torre C3, Via U. Bassi 1, Padua

Presentation of the mural created by students from the A. Modigliani Art High School in Padua as part of the “Third Mission” project titled “Citizenship, Business, and Technology Put to the Test of Sustainability: Words, Numbers, Actions,” promoted by the Department. The initiative provides an opportunity for dialogue and exchange between the university and the high school, with a particular focus on the university’s role as a promoter of sustainability and innovation. Speakers will include institutional representatives, teaching staff members, and students involved in the art project, along with the organizers of the call for ideas that led to the creation of the artwork. The mural effectively illustrates the integration of technological innovation, economic development, environmental protection, and social considerations.

The book reconstructs the political and legal events of March 24, 1979, when Governor Paolo Baffi and Deputy Director Mario Sarcinelli were charged by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Università sotto esame

4th May 2026 – Aula Nievo, Palazzo del Bo, Padua

The event, organized by the School of Economics and Political Science, will feature the presentation of a book on the data, challenges, and prospects of the Italian university system, edited by Carlo Cappa and Andrea Gavosto. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion with presentations by teaching staff members and representatives from the University of Padua on the topic of changes in higher education.

Sustainable Sponsorship Hackathon

16th April 2026 – Aula 32, Via U. Bassi 1, Padua

The hackathon engages students in a design challenge focused on communication and sustainability.
Participants work in interdisciplinary teams to develop sports sponsorship concepts based on insights provided by NEXT DIFFERENT, the initiative’s industry partner. The proposals are presented in a final pitch and evaluated for their economic, social, and environmental impact.
