2024 Best Article Award assigned by the APSA Formal Theory Section
Our Professor Edoardo Grillo, alongside Carlo Prato (Columbia University), has won the '2024 Best Article Award' assigned by the APSA Formal Theory Section for their work on "Reference Points and Democratic Backsliding", published by the American Journal of Political Science (AJPS).
"This award - says Edoardo Grillo - is a recognition of the work Carlo Prato and I have conducted on the topic of democratic erosion. In recent years, many democracies have shown authoritarian tendencies and have gone through crises of varying degrees.
In this article, we propose a new mechanism that explains democratic erosion and demonstrate how traditional forms of democratic oversight are ineffective in preventing it.
This work, like many others produced by my colleagues at the dSEA, highlights how our faculty engages in high-quality research and is committed to multidisciplinary dialogue, in line with the strategic goals of the University of Padua."
