The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padua invites applications for a two years postdoctoral position starting in the Summer of 2023. The candidate will work and contribute withi the research team conducting research on sustainability and digital transformation, coordinated by Prof. Eleonora Di Maria, Prof. Andrea Furlan and Dr. Ambra Galeazzo.
About the Position
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a background in operations management, supply chainmanagement, corporate sustainability/ environmental management, and a dedicated interest in digital transformation, behavioral operations and/or sustainability and circular economy. This postdoc candidate will work on a project aiming at identifying methods and models that 1) support the digital transformation of the workforce and 2) link digital transformation to circular economy. Referring to the first point, the candidate has to contribute to developing theoretical and empirical knowledge about the human-machine interaction and the design and implementation of organizational contexts where learning, innovation, upskilling and reskilling of resources can be effective. Referring to the second point, thecandidate has to contribute to developing theoretical and empirical knowledge on how and when managers and the workforce can improve the positive effects of the digital transformation on circular economy. The candidate is expected to do qualitative and quantitative research activities and submit at least an article in a three stars CABS ranked journal, in addition, to contributing to the intellectual environment of the dSEA.
About the Department
The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padua (dSEA) was founded in 1989 and counts over 2000 students and about 70 faculty members conducting research in several areas of economics and business. The dSEA has a track record of excellence in both research and teaching. The Italian Ministry of University and Research has included the Department amongst the Departments of Excellence for the period 2018-22 and 2023-27 awarded special funding to enhance research capacity. In the most recent ranking by ANVUR, the dSEA ranked fourth in Italy in terms of research quality and productivity. According to the latest available data on research quality by subject area, the dSEA has been ranked second in Italy in the area of Economics by the National independent agency (ANVUR). Since 2012 the University guide Grande Guida; ranks the dSEA among the top three institutions in Italy for teaching quality in the areas of Economics and Statistics. Your qualifications
Ideally, you:
Have demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research (qualitative or quantitative methods) in management, operations, and/or sustainability research
Are eager to conduct independent research in collaboration with our research team
Show a strong interest in digital transformation and/or sustainability-related research topics
Have outstanding communication skills (fluency in professional English)
Have (or are close to completing – before July) a Ph.D. from a recognized university
Consideration will also be given to good collaborative and communication skills and applicant’s professional experience. The candidate should be fluent in English. Because part of the postdoctoral project is to conduct interviews with managers and shopfloor workers, knowledge of Italian is a plus, but not a requirement.
