Senior (Tenure-Track) Assistant Professor in Financial Economics/Monetary Economics (13/A1 – SECS-P/01 Economia Politica) 

Job Description and Position
The Department of Economics and Management (DSEA) is seeking Expressions of Interest for a Senior (Tenure-Track) Assistant Professor in Financial Economics/Monetary Economics (Scientific Sector SECS-P/01). Applications by candidates of any nationality are welcome.

The Assistant Professor position is tenure-track, full time, with a maximum teaching load of 90 contact hours per academic year, that is negotiable. The annual gross salary - net of employer-paid social security contributions – is in the range of approx. €36.000 - € 47.000, depending on seniority - corresponding to a monthly net (13 instalments) of approx. €1.950 - € 2.400. Whilst this is not negotiable, faculty members can obtain bi-annual increases upon meeting targets as defined by the University of Padua. The salary is subject to employee-paid social security contributions and Italian income tax. Depending on individual circumstances (e.g., being non-Italian resident for the past two years), the successful candidate may qualify for generous tax exemption (here for an unofficial but clear explanation of the mechanism at work).

Candidates with a record of excellent and internationally recognized research are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate level.

The successful candidate is expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the general field of economics and in financial economics. The majority of the teaching will be delivered at the Department of Mathematics.

Qualifications and Requirements
According to the Italian legislation, eligible candidates must have three years of experience after having formally obtained a PhD in Economics or related areas.

Approximate starting date: The successful candidate is expected to start in January 2024, but the starting date is negotiable based on individual circumstances.

About the Department
The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padova was founded in 1989 and counts over 2000 students and about 70 faculty members conducting research in several areas of economics and business. The DSEA has a track record of excellence in both research and teaching. The Italian Ministry of University and Research has included the Department amongst the Departments of Excellence for the period 2018-22 and awarded special funding to enhance research capacity. In the most recent ranking by ANVUR, the DSEA ranked fourth in Italy in terms of research quality and productivity. According to the latest available data on research quality by subject area, the DSEA has been consistently ranked as one of the top departments in Italy in the area of Economics by the National independent agency (ANVUR).

Since 2012 the University guide 'Grande Guida' ranks the DSEA among the top three institutions in Italy for teaching quality in the areas of Economics and Statistics. The DSEA is also at the top of the U-Multirank international ranking, out of 850 assessed Universities.
